TRIP TO LAROT VILLAGE | HIMALAYAN EXTRAVAGANZA

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

Well, I chose this life instead of snuggling on my bed as the temperatures dropping in minus. But I have always been person who loves to take up challenges. Running in fresh powder snow, to struggle at high terrains just to get a perfect picture. From achieving mission sunset to end up waking up to make the best time-lapse early in the morning before sunrise. And not to forget, getting up in the middle of night to witness the star trails in minus temperatures. Trust me, its so difficult to even stand out but that’s what I love. Thats what I passionate about. I have deciphered it long time back that’s what made me happy, physically. You know, it’s so difficult to put whole experiences infer words here, how some things triggered me instantaneously. But that’s what I love.

Always longing to be in Himalayas. Getting intimate with nature, do I make sense? I wonder how many of you guys can connect with it. Stirring me from within, leaving me deterred. I might sound absolutely weird or naive but truly I left my heart in Himalayas. Under the sky, where the whole universe looks something much more, beyond my imagination. After walking and hiking in the random unexplored paths, I discovered this village named Larot.

From the stone villages to the wheat fields, from dense pine forest to crossing the broken bridges, from patches of greens to golden farms, from plum flowers to mustard fields, from kids playing in village streets to some innocent faces gliding their innocent smiles from afar. Clearest skies displaying a complete contradiction from the cities, purple poppies mixed with apple flower, mixed with love, hard work and true car of nature.

Little did I know, there were no conflicts but more of calmness in my heart as I continued to hike in the dense pines and oak. It was really cold that evening but as I kept moving forward, I met more of warm hearts, even though our hands were cold. That's what I expect my usual Monday’s to be. Sounds more dreamy, isn’t it? In reality it is.

Children whom I made friends with were much more energetic as they held my fingers asking for candies. Those chubby cheeks, messy hairs, turquoise eyes just like crystal clear Pabbar river what more pretty they could be?

Such young hearts, in this small serene village with some ignited minds with the spirit of adventure in their veins and a grateful heart for everything.

Every new step I took forward, I witnessed the sheer beauty of Himalayas. That made me feel live, I could feel the sudden adrenaline rush, the chilled air with slight drizzle which transformed in snow within a blink of an eyes, this made me high. That’s was the season of cherry blossom one of my favourite season. The fresh fragrance of those apple flowers yet deceptive treacherous routes leading to spectacular glacial lakes. But even those challenging path didn’t stop me, because I knew the best view comes after the hardest climb, capturing the best views in my heart and in my camera.

Slowly whole surrounding got enveloped in white, something which was out of my imagination. And next morning welcomed like that, grabbed some green tea and hitchhiked to tarot to (somewhere 30kms) chanshal pass. i witnessed the winter wonderland which was less explored. I found myself staring the endless silhouettes of ice sickles hanging from edge. Sipping hot cup of chai, with the people whom I did hitchhike.

A perfect “Pahadi” moment, with a perfect heart of an explorer.
