Bakkhali, it is all about less investment (irrespective of money and time both) and much more returns in terms of fun, peace, and good memories. You can enjoy the beautiful nature with a historic touch. If you are pissed off, tired and dying for a small break from the city of joy then Bakkhali can be a good place where your soul can get ultimate peace and fuel to give a kick start your week. One of the reasons why I’ve added it to my travel blog.

How to go: If you are from Bengal then it is like a jackpot to you. The choice is all yours. But believe me, a motorbike would be the best option for this trip because it will add additional fun in your trip. Here are some tips to make your journey smooth by our travel blog.
By Bus – The lone bus starts from the Esplanade State Bus Terminus in Kolkata (the one from where the North Bengal State Transport buses ply) at around 7 am. West Bengal Surface Transport Corp runs this service – check out the latest times from their counter inside the terminus and book early. The Bus to Bakkhali is not very comfortable – especially in summer (when we went). The bus is always crowded and stops almost everywhere. It takes 5+ hours to reach. During the journey to Bakkhali, the Bus drives into a ferry – the ticket cost includes the ferry ride. By Car – Drive south from Calcutta through Diamond Harbour Road – after Diamond Harbour drive further south to Kakdwip and then Namkhana. Before the Namkhana Bus Terminus – the road veers left and goes to the Ferry Jetty on the banks of Catania-Doania River. Buy a ferry ticket for your car and drive into the ferry when your turn comes. Be prepared to wait for long hours if you are reaching after 12:00 as the ferry doesn’t ply between 12noon and 2 pm – so plan your trip accordingly. Calcutta to Namkhana should take less than 4 hours. After crossing the river – travel further south and you will first hit Fraserganj – and 15min later Bakkhali. 1. Bakkhali Beach is perhaps the most peaceful beach in India. The near 7 km coastline has not just the most stunning view of the sea merging into the land but is also very sparsely populated, which accentuates its beauty.
3.Fraserganj Wind Park, Bakkhali Overview
The area of Fraserganj in Bakkhali is popular because of some ancient history. Lord Fraser, a British Official resided in this area. He was so mesmerized by the place that he decided to build it up, but the construction he undertook never got completed, owing to the sea. Ruins of his home and a few other buildings can still be seen here. There are also a large number of windmills erected in the area, making the place look surreal.

Now I am going to give you the most important information regarding the cost of the trip. There is one West Bengal tourism government resort near the beach which has a different kind of rooms with different prices, starting from RS. 2,200/- to RS. 2,700/-, depending upon the quality of the room. Apart from that, you will get so many other hotels available there and the accommodation cost is also pocket friendly. Starting from 700/- to 3,000/– depending on your choice and priority you can book it. Food is also available at a cheap rate. Almost every hotels have restaurant facilities. Apart from that street-side food, Dhaba, restaurants are also there in Bakkhali. For breakfast and evening snacks I would suggest you grab it from the beachside vendors as you can enjoy your food with the view of the sea, sunrise, sunset, and the panoramic picturesque landscape.
Our holidays might be limited but if you have that burning desire to get lost then options are always open.
