MONSOON MAHARASHTRA

This memorable blissful monsoon road trip starts from the financial hub of India ,MUMBAI.It proceeds along the eastern express highway towards NAVI MUMBAI where on the outskirts we come across the KARNALA BIRD SANCTUARY. Karnala is situated in the Raigad district famous for numerous species of birds and butterflies.Then we proceed towards LONAVALA and KHANDALA to watch the BHUSHI DAM built over Indrayani River.The roads as we enter bhushi dam unleashes its natural beauty through numerous waterfalls.We drive further through the mystic clouds and green valleys to reach the Lion’s Point in Khandala. In monsoon the green mountains becomes rich with vegetation and streams of water begins to flow down its throat.The view of the western ghats is scintillating from this point.Then we come back to the main the road to reach an articial lake ,PAWNA LAKE.Camping and star gazing are major activities done here amidst the scenic background.Next day early morning we start to visit the ancient KARLA and BHAJA Caves in Lonavala. These caves are 2 nd century BC Hinayana buddhism caves which depicts perfect examples of rock cut architecture.From Bhaja caves one can start the trek to LOHAGAD FORT.The hill fort was under the maratha empire with superb views of the western valley from above.In monsoon it is more beautiful and green than most parts of india. Then we proceed towards the three paragliding scenic hill stations of KAMSHET,PANCHGANI and  MAHABALESHWAR.Both are famous for providing summer retreats for the people and paragliding courses.From Kamshet one can also visit the elegant township of LAVASA and feel the need of living in a luxurious greenery life.After a soothing stay and paragliding in the hill station we proceed back to visit the RAIGAD FORT.This fort is also on a hill top built by Chatrapati Shivaji during his rule.After this we proceed towards DURSHET forest lodge to indulge in activities like camping,river crossing and treks inside the jungle which gives us an adventurous peek in the conclusion.Next day we again opt for a hill top fort the RAJMACHI trek and then visit the picturesque hill stations of MATHERAN and KARJAT to conclude the trip. .The road trip to this towns are excellent with mindblowing greenery and natural trails along the way.
