Panvel
This scenic and celebrated drive along the west coast and western ghats starts from this capital town of Navi mumbai.panvel are more like any metro city and its outskirts have many scenic western ghats drive, karnal bird sanctuary being one of them.
Alibaug beach.
The first stopover will be alibaug beach that is the most famous gateway for the Mumbaikars.the beach is clean and calm much different from the crowded beaches of Mumbai. the Bhandari and Colaba fort are other major attractions. the drive from alibaug to kolad is a diversion from the main highway but is out of this world scenic drive as it crosses karshid sanctuary on one side and Arabian sea on the other.it passes through murid beach and then drives to kolad.
Harihareshwar and ganapatipule.
After driving along nh66 one can also take a peek for the Raigad fort offering brilliant views of the green western ghats. then take a deviation from the highway and arrive at the port town of harihareshwar.have your breakfast in the serene and lonely beach amidst the cool sea breeze that has a minimum amount of crowd. from harihareshwar.from harihareshwar you may continue along the state highway up to dabhol, then take your car to ferry which will be a different experience. but the roads are narrow and not in good conditions so one can also take back the diversion to highway nh66 and reach navaid after which again take the diversion and catch the sh-4 to ganapatipule.most people recognize this beach as the beach of Maldives ad this too is a much lesser visited beaches by the tourist for which it remains clean throughout the year.
Ratnagiri
This will be the second stopover in the road trip,the drive to which is the most scenic in the tour. the stretch from ganapatipule to Ratnagiri along sh-4 will have sea and western ghats together making it an ideal coastal drive.ratnagiri is famous for mangoes and a populated town of Maharashtra so the hotel will be plenty.
Beaches and forts.
Next day start early to experience beach walk as the trip will only consiostes of beaches and forts.vijaydurg fort,sindhudurg fort,maple beach,tarkarli beach are some of the best destinations to cover.enjoy your drive amidst cool sea breezes and don't forget to have a video cam on to record a beach drive in Arabian sea .the road leads you gradually through coconut plantations and yellow sands to goa,the most happening tourist destination in india.
Goa.
Well, paragraphs and adjectives seem to be short for describing this delightful place in india.goa is the las vegas of India that attracts all enthusiastic tourists all over the world. The nightlife, parties, beaches, forts, food, everything is perfect in goa. a night stay is a must for goa to experience its hospitable culture.
Gokarna
A beach town in Karnataka that has an ancient Shiva temple and also famous meditating beaches. the om beach is shaped like the holy word aum when viewed from top.a road that takes the tourists meandering through a ghat road to paradise beach is worth to drive as one can view the aum beach and enjoy the scenic rocky paradise beach.
Murudeshwar
Another beach town dedicated to the devotion of Ravana to lord shiva is 80kms from Gokarna.it has the highest statue of lord shiva in India in the middle of the ocean built on a rocky cliff. below the foot of lord shiva, a temple is located dedicated to the devotion and faith of Ravana through which the four holy places of lord shiva lingam was formed. just beside the temple complex, a beautiful hotel is located facing the ocean from the cliff and the fourth-night stay in this place is a must.
Marvanthe & udupi
50 km ahead of murudeshwar lies this unique beach which is located on the nh66 highway with river on one side and the sea on the other.a halt and a memorable pic of this unique highway in this beach is a must to capture the beauty of both a flowing river and sea together.udupi is nearer to Kerala and is a beach town situated more to south Karnataka.the town is famous for its temples and serene beaches with a rich southern Indian food cuisine.
